Logo Update & Brand Development

Roundtop Mountain Resort, 2019

Roundtop Mountain Resort, a Pennsylvania ski destination known as “The Fun Mountain” for its activity-packed premises for younger guests and tailgating culture for all Roundtop fanatics, needed a refresh that refined and streamlined the brand while keeping the good vibes at the forefront of the identity. The client wanted to retain the original logo’s reference to Roundtop Mountain’s shape and maintain their primary brand palette to avoid confusion as their identity evolved. This redesign polishes the shape of the original logo by utilizing a custom, geometric logotype as a solid foundation for a fun and legible mark. Paired with an athletic, Grotesque typeface, the evolution captures the two sides of the resort’s personality.

Modifications to the brand palette increased contrast and legibility and introduced a vibrant range of ski-map-inspired colors. A sticker-style tagline set the tone for headlines and advertising campaign marks, while Memphis-style patterns and organic shapes merged to create playful text frames and graphic elements. The refreshed identity was applied across signage, digital communications, digital displays and social media advertising, trail maps, and RFID cards. To enhance Roundtop’s social media presence, a suite of animated GIPHYs was developed to showcase the new brand and key elements of its personality like the helmet of their mascot, Ullr, which later inspired a custom illustration as part of a Peak Resorts mascot poster series.
